OL Reign Signs Goalkeeper Laurel Ivory to One-Year Deal

OL Reign has signed goalkeeper Laurel Ivory to a one-year deal with a one-year option, the club announced today. Per league and club policy, the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“I’m really pleased to have Laurel joining the club,” said head coach Laura Harvey. “She is a great goalkeeper and hard worker; she has proven her qualities over the past five years at UVA. She will make an excellent addition to our goalkeeper group.”

Ivory, a goalkeeper out of the University of Virginia, set a university record with 100 career starts and 8,998 minutes played and ranks second all-time with 68 career wins. She also ranks second all-time at UVA in shutouts, with 42 throughout her career. In her final season with UVA, she only allowed more than one goal in one game during the season and was named to the Second Team All-ACC selection.

The Surfside, Florida native competed with the U-17 and U-20 U.S. Women’s National Team. She was the starting goalkeeper for the U-17 national team that advanced to the 2016 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, as well as the starting goalkeeper for the U-20 national team in England in summer 2017. Ivory was named the 2016 CONCACAF U-17 World Cup Qualifying Golden Glove winner and to the 2016 CONCACAF U-17 World Cup Qualifying Best XI Team. She was most recently called up to the U.S. U-23 national team for January camp in Austin, Texas.

“Getting an opportunity with this club and in a fantastic city is something I have dreamed about and have worked towards for as long as I can remember. I’m super grateful for Laura and the coaching staff who believe in me enough to have me join this team and I’m excited to get started,” said Ivory.
