OL Reign Unveil 2021 Jerseys Featuring Black Future Co-op Fund

OL Reign revealed its new primary and secondary jerseys for the 2021 National Women’s Soccer League season at its annual season ticket member event earlier this evening.

Both jerseys showcase the Black Future Co-op Fund, Washington’s first all Black-led philanthropy created to ignite Black generational wealth, health, and well-being. OL Reign began its partnership with the Black Future Co-op Fund in 2020, when the club played on behalf of the organization during the 2020 NWSL Fall Series, during which it raised more than $15,000 for the organization.

“During our transition between presenting partners, we recognized that our club had an incredible opportunity to use our most valuable media asset to raise awareness for an organization that we care deeply about,” said OL Reign CEO Bill Predmore. “The Black Future Co-op Fund serves as critical catalyst for change, investing in areas that are underserved and unappreciated in an effort to elevate our community to a more equitable place. We believe that by being featured our jerseys we can help them make a greater and more immediate impact within our community.”

The Black Future Co-op Fund will be featured on the front of OL Reign’s primary and secondary jerseys during the 2021 season, until such time that the club secures a new presenting sponsor.

OL Reign’s 2021 jerseys have been named Hope and Gratitude, with Hope meant to serve as inspiration to our community during the difficult period of recovery ahead, and Gratitude designed to acknowledge our supporters for their unwavering commitment to the club.

Hope is OL Reign’s primary jersey. The bright blue body, which extends through to the jersey’s left sleeve, is punctuated by a darker blue “claw”, which emerges from the right sleeve. A ChromaFlex OL Reign badge sits adjacent to the iconic Nike swoosh in white, which is visually complemented by the bright white collar and is finished with a gold accent at the front of the jersey. The inner neck panel features the club’s slogan—Fortune Favors the Bold—in French: La Fortune Sourit Aux Audacieux.

Gratitude serves as OL Reign’s secondary jersey. The body of the kit features the names of OL Reign 2021 season ticket members, designed to add a subtle texture to the front of the jersey while serving as a constant reminder of those in our community for whom we play. The white and grey design is punctuated by a red vertical stripe on the right and blue down the left. As with the primary jersey, the secondary jersey features a ChromaFlex OL Reign badge, and the inner neck panel features the club slogan.

“We’re grateful to team up with OL Reign to realize the promise of shared prosperity for Black Washingtonians,” said T’wina Nobles, architect of the Black Future Co-op Fund and Washington state senator. “OL Reign’s dedication and passion combined with ours creates a powerful partnership for spreading hope and gratitude and, ultimately, achieving our collective vision of Black liberation.”

“Our team has come together as a united group in an effort to create meaningful change for our local Black and Brown communities that we represent as an organization,” said Spencer. “Extending and expanding our work with the Black Future Co-op Fund gives our team the opportunity to support their much-needed efforts to deliver resources that will enable these communities to prosper for decades to come.”

In conjunction with the release of its 2021 jerseys, the club also announced that Boeing has extended its partnership with the club. The Boeing logo will continue to be featured on the back of the primary and secondary jerseys, directly below the numbers.

The centerpiece of the partnership with Boeing is an extension of the Boeing Scholarship Program for OL Reign Academy. The Boeing Scholarship Program launched in 2020 to begin addressing the underrepresentation of girls of color in youth soccer. The program covers the full cost of participation fees in OL Reign Academy for two players of color during the upcoming 2021/2022 season.

“The Boeing Scholarship Program is a fantastic and much appreciated step towards equalizing the playing field for girls of color,” said OL Reign Academy executive director Amy Griffin. “These girls have earned a chance to compete and deserve the opportunity to do so. We are thankful that Boeing will continue to support all the hard work the players invest to achieve their goals as athletes and individuals.”

“Boeing has been an incredible supporter of our organization for many years, so we are grateful for their continued partnership,” said OL Reign CEO Bill Predmore. “They share our vision for a more equitable community and believe as we do that there is both an opportunity and obligation to take a leadership role in shaping tangible change in the world.”
